| At the Johnston Ridge Visitor Center in the Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument in September 2004. On May 18, 1980, Mount St. Helens erupted blowing the top of the mountain off and devastating nearly 230 square miles forest. About a month after my visit the volcano started erupting again for the first time since the mid 1980's. |
