| At the grave of Benjamin Rush, signer of the Declaration of Independence, in the Christ Church Burial Grounds in Philadelphia. He was also a staunch opponent of Gen. George Washington and worked tirelessly to have him removed as the Commander-In-Chief of the Continental Army. On a more positve note in 1812, he helped reconcile the friendship of Thomas Jefferson and John Adams by encouraging the two former Presidents to resume writing to each other. |
