| A monument to the 1st Minnesota
Volunteer Infantry in St. Paul. Minnesota was the first
state to offer troops to the Union Army during the Civil
War. At the top of the monument is the likeness of Josias
King who claimed to be the very first Union volunteer. In
the background is the St. Paul Cathedral. |
